The Q&A Archives: Disease On Blackberries

Question: My olallieberry blackberry leaves have small brown spots some of which have a white dot in center. This is more prevalent on the floricanes than on the primocanes. If I need to spray, what do I use and when should it be applied.

Answer: Sounds like it may be the fungus Septoria, but it's impossible to tell without actually seeing a sample. Your best control measure would be to remove the canes after harvest. You can take a specimen into your local Cooperative Extension office for a positive diagnosis and most current control recommendations. Reach them at (805) 781-5940.
