| Along both sides of the front walk leading to my front door, I typically plant annuals each spring. This year, I planted petunias. They've grown so large that they now look kind of funny. The area is in full sun and I'm looking for suggestions for some perennials that I might be able to plant in this area in late summer/early fall. I'd like something that would grow to perhaps 6-8 inches tall. Can you make any recommendations? |
| Here are some shorter perennials to consider. These will bloom at various times in the spring and summer but can be planted in the fall if you can find them to buy. Creeping phlox, veronica "Goodness Grows", very small daylilies such as "Penny's Worth", creeping thymes, lower growing and creeping sedums, smaller forms of perennial geranium, hens and chicks (sempervivum) and other succulents, and if the soil is very rich, violas. |
