There are a number of groundcovers suitable for a sunny garden site: Ajuga (carpet bugle), Hypericum (St. John's Wort), Vinca minor (periwinkle - although the leaf color is a deeper green in shady areas), Euonymus fortunei, Fragaria chiloensis, Phlox subulata and Thymus (creeping thyme). With the exception of the Euonymus, each of these plants provides seasonal flowers.
