Is flowering tobacco (Nicotiana alata) the same as smoking tobacco? if not what is the most common species that is used for that nature. |
Flowering tobaccos (Nicotiana alata and N. sylvestris) are grown for flowering ability rather than nicotine content. Nicotiana tabaccum or Nicotiana rustica would be grown for nicotine. There are some agricultural restrictions on growing tobacco, so if you are considering trying it you might want to consult with your county extension about the varieties and best cultural practices. |
