Question: I have an apparently healthy birdhouse gourd vine that has only set one gourd. after blooming the bloom turns brown and wilts.

Answer: The vine may be producing a predominance of male flowers over female flowers, resulting in less fruit. You may also be seeing a problem with pollination due to weather or moisture stress.
