I have some overgrown fpizter (sp?) juniper, and would like to cut them back. Is this a good time to do it? and how much can I cut back safely?

Junipers can be trimmed lightly as needed during the growing season up until late summer. Although they are capable of resprouting from dormant buds way back on the plant, a severe pruning runs the risk of shocking the plant to death. Regrowth will also take some time so the plant will possibly look unsightly for a long time. A severe pruning is also better done in early spring to give the plant ample time during the growing season to recover.
