How do I prevent my hens and chicks plant from dying after they bloom? I am assuming they are blooming because they get a long stalk with flowers at the top.

This is the normal life cycle for this plant. Mature plants bloom and then make room for the new plants. There should be baby plants surrounding the older one that will take over the space after it dies.
