| I have brocolli in my garden and it was growing good so I thought. Now it is flowering. What can i do to get a crop out of it? And what causes it besides the warm weather? I live in CT and so far we have not had a very hot summer. The plants are long stemmed and i pick off the yellow or bad leaves. Is that ok? Don't know what else to do with it. Please send tip. |
| Broccoli is a cool season crop and should be planted very early and harvested early. Once the weather turns warm there is nothing you can do if the plants bolt or go to seed. Unfortunately, the taste will be bitter now and you may well decide the only thing to do with it is add it to the compost pile. Next time, begin harvesting earlier and plant your transplants out in the garden well before the last expected spring frost, say about five weeks before it. That way you will be able to harvest well before the warm weather hits. I'm sorry about your broccoli. |
