The Q&A Archives: What to Plant with Crocosmia

Question: Next year, I would like to plant crocosmia in one part of my garden. Can you please tell me what I could plant with it that would ensure bloom before and after the fiery crocosmia flowers? I would like to sustain all-season interest in the area.

Answer: You might try early spring bulbs, a perennial geranium such as "Johnson's Blue", a late bloomer such as boltonia "Snowbank", and possibly a dark leafed heuchera such as "Palace Purple" for foliar contrast. There are many other plants that would do nicely depending on your color preferences.
