What kind of perrenials and bulbs will do well in a mostly shady spot (afternoon sun) in zone 6? Is it ok to plant perrenials now or should it wait till next spring? |
Container grown perennials can be planted any time during the growing season, but spring is probably the ideal time followed by early fall. Many bulbs are also planted in the fall, particularly the spring bloomers. There are different degrees of shade, but a location with sun all afternoon would be considered closer to a full sun location than partial shade. For hot afternoon sun you might consider perennial geraniums, black eyed Susan, daylilies, bearded iris, phlox, veronicas, sedums and other sun loving perennials. |
