I would like to put potted geraniums in my guest bedroom in a planter that is located about 1' from a
south facing window. This area gets mostly afternoon sun.

Would this be a good location for this type of plant? If not geraniums, would Boston ferns do well
here or is there too much direct sunlight?

Thanks

The geraniums would be happy there, but a Boston fern would not, unless you can keep direct sunlight from reaching the fronds. You might also consider growing miniature roses, Gerbera daisies, Schizanthus (poor man's orchid) or begonias near the window.
