Years ago my mother made mint jelly not requiring an apple base. Do you know of any recipes or have any source I may check? The Surejel packages use an apple base.

I have seen some older recipes using wine as a base for herb jellies, also I believe a sugary syrup infused with mint as a base, instead of apple juice. You might check with your county extension (378-1327) as to the most up to date and safest methods of doing this; unfortunately, not all of the older recipes are considered safe nowadays.
