Please recommend a ground cover for around an inground pool that gets full sun. The area is now covered with grass/weeds.

If you would prefer an evergreen cover, your might try low growing juniper shrubs as a carpeting ground cover. These will not tolerate foot traffic and may be a bit prickly as well. For a more floral look you might consider planting daylilies (hemerocallis)although they are not evergreen. Many people enjoy using ornamental grasses around their pools for a lush look during the summer months. Alternatively, many people do find that lawn is a good surround for a pool because it allows for activities and play, does not attract an excess of bees, and is soft underfoot. It also tolerates the occasional splash of chlorinated water very well.
