COULD IT BE GETTING TO MUCH WATER, WE HAVE HAD A TREMONDOUS AMOUNT OF RAIN OVER THE LAST 10 DAYS IN OUR AREA. ALSO, THE TREES IN QUESTION ARE PLANTED AT THE END OF SLOPE SO WHEN IT RAINS THE WATER COMES DOWN THE LAWN AND SETTLES NEAR THE TREES... THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME... |
| Most trees will not tolerate excess moisture, so it is possible the trees are drowning. It is also possible they are showing signs of transplant shock. It is also possible that something in the compost has caused a reaction, especially if the compost was still somewhat "hot". It is possible too that they are suffering a disease or insect attack. You might want to consult with your county extension (278-6738) and/or with the supplier of your trees about the cause and possible solutions to the problem, as well as about the suitability of the particular type of tree you have chosen for that specific location. If it tends to flood or be extra moist you may need to use a different type of tree that can withstand periodic flooding or generally moist conditions. |
