| Sometimes placing a board or a roof shingle or similar material or even several inches of clean dry straw beneath each melon will help; if the melons are ripe, picking them is the best defense. You could also consier growing them on a trellis next time if slugs are a serious problem in your garden. Slugs can also be controlled by sprinkling diatomaceous earth on the soil surface, by hand picking them at night when they are active, and by trapping with stale beer. |
