I am in the foothills of the Catskills in New York State (zone 5, I think). I'd like to plant raspberries and/or other berries. What can I plant in the Fall and which berries do you recommend?

Fall planting is usually dictated by what is available at that season of the year; the spring selection is usually much greater. In terms of selections, you might wish to consult with your Cornell county extension for suggested varieties for your specific locale and soil. They will also be able to help you test your soil and amend it appropriately for the various crops. Rasperries are delicious, but my personal favorite berry for home grown fresh eating is probably the Earliglow strawberry.
