| Leaves wilt suddenly on Mexican sunflower (tithonium). No insects on roots,stems or leaves. No evidence of any foreign matter on plant. Flowers get about 6 hrs. sun a day. Plants have bloomed well and appear healthy but suddenly one and then another just wilt(they are not dry). Any suggestions? |
| These plants do best in full sun with a lighter soil and readily tolerate dry weather; they may be showing signs of stress due to the rainy season and moister soil we have been having. It is possible that they are suffering a root rot or soil borne disease or root damage of some kind. You might want to examine the roots on one of the worst affected plant and see if there is any unusual sign there or you might consult with your county extension (240-6500) for a more specific diagnosis and suggested steps to take. I'm sorry I can't be more specific. |
