| Thankyou for this great site. Please direct me to a previously asked question if mine has been asked before. We live in NYC., and have a five year old eastern Redbud tree which gets about half a day of sun. The garden has had a great year for growth and maturation, yet the redbud leaves are peppered with brown spots which penetrate through the leaves. The spots are dark brown. The leaves appear dry and sickly. We think it is a fungus. Should we spray the tree, or perhaps treat the soil, and with what? |
| Redbuds are usually quite healthy trees, but this damp year has seen many somewhat unusual foliar problems, fungus and diseases. Unfortunately, based on your description, I am unable to determine what the cause of the problem is, although I would suspect it is a leaf spot disease related to the weather and while unsightly, may not require treatment. You might want to consult with your county extension for a specific identification of the problem and suggested ways to treat it, if necessary. In the meantime, clean up and destroy any fallen leaves to help limit chances for reinfection. |
