The Q&A Archives: How to Grow Radishes

Question: What type of soil and other conditions promote good production of radishes? Mine seem to be all tops with little growth of the root (radish).

Answer: Radishes prefer a deep light soil well amended with organic matter. Fertilizing, if any, should be light on the nitrogen. Most important to good radish production is the season. Late summer and fall-sown seeds produce better radishes than spring-sownseed.
