| Two years ago I planted a saucer Magnolia on the east side of my home. It has done wonderfully! However, curiously enough, it blooms all summer long! I was wondering what causes this and do you recommend pruning? |
| These plants (Magnolia x soulangiana) will occasionally flower on the new growth of the season, although the main flush is in the spring. It is more or less normal, so go ahead and enjoy! Pruning is not particularly recommended for these trees with the exception of removing damaged or diseased sections and water sprouts should any occur. If you need to prune, try to do so in spring after they bloom up until early summer. |
