Answer: Rabbits can be a terrible pest in the garden. In my experience, the most effective long term solution is a fence. However, some gardeners report success using repellents, either the commercially formulated sprays or home made recipes based on garlic and/or pepper. Some gardeners also report that a pet dog or cat on patrol is a good deterrent. You might be able to cover the plants with cages made of wire mesh, but the bunnies may tunnel under them. I do not have personal experience using the row covers as protection from rabbits but it is always worth a try although I suspect they would tunnel under it.
