I am a 4th grade teacher who is in the process of teaching about plants. We are going to plant seeds outside in a garden and I was wondering which seeds would actually grow during the month of September in Kentucky. (We are studying the affects of fertilizing vs no fertilizing)

You might try peas since they will germinate and grow in cool weather, as will spinach or lettuce. Note that the peas might germinate better if you use an inoculant; this is usually available wherever seeds are sold.
