I live in Southern California. I work with a group of 12 and 13 year old girls who will be decorating flower pots and then planting something. They want to plant something in the pot they can harvest in a relatively short time. Any suggestions?

Radishes have a short turn-around time. You can generally harvest in 20-30 days. Or, you might try growing herbs. You can snip the tops of chives when they're only a few inches high. Good luck with your project!
