The Q&A Archives: Sprouting Time for Achimenes Bulb

Question: How long does it take an Achimenes bulb to sprout once it is planted? Nancy Birmingham, AL

Answer: Achimenes do best outdoors in light shade and indoors in bright indrect sunlight or 14-16 hours of artificial light. Night temperatures of 65-70 and day temperatures of 75 and higher are ideal. Temperature and levels of moisture play a big part in initiation of growth. If the temperatures have been less than ideal, then growth will be slower. Gently dig up the bulb to check its progress. This will tell you alot about what's happening.
