| I have a large moderately sloped area ( 15 x 200 feet ) that I would like to fill with a perennial long blooming flower. Ordering plants appears to be very expensive. I was wondering what types of flowers can be easly started from seed, are hardy in full sun and multiply quickly to cover this area. I was thinking of black eye susans. Any help or recommendations will be appreciated. |
| Black eyed Susans and purple coneflowers along with lanceleafed coreopsis are quite easy to start from seed. You might also cnsdier buying a few plants and growing them on, then dividing them to increase them. It is amazing how quickly you can fill an area this way. The above three are easily divided, as are thread leafed coreopsis, daillardia, nepeta, thyme, and daylilies and sedums of all kinds. These would all do well in full sun and are not terribly demanding in terms of soil or care. |
