Once pumpkins have turned orange, will they keep growing or should I go ahead and pick them?

Harvest pumpkins when they change to their expected color and after the skin is thick enough so that a fingernail won't puncture the skin. Don't let them get hit by frost, or they will rot. For storage, leave about 2 inches of the stem attached.
