I have trouble getting Walla-Walla onion seeds to germinate outside in my garden. I live in eastern Pa. How can I improve my success?

Onions germinate best in soil that is about 75 degrees; onion seed is not long lived so you should use fresh seed every year for best results. For a summer seeding, plant about half an inch deep where the soil will be more evenly moist. Also make sure the soil stays lightly moist and does not crust over before they sprout.
