Galax (Galax urceolata) is a slow growing native plant with fairly specific growing requirements. It needs a rich, acidic, humusy soil that stays cool and moist, and should be sited in the shade. The foliage will take on a reddish cast in partial sun. It can be grown in zones 5-7.
