The Q&A Archives: Gladiola Bulbs And Bulblets

Question: Last year when I dug up my glad bulbs they were blessed with many little bulblets. This spring I planted the bulblets in a different area and alot of them grew little stalks. My question is - if I continue to dig up the bulblets and replant them every year will they one day flower?

Answer: The botanical term for the little bulblets that glads produce to increase the species is cormels. And yes, they will flower when they reach appropriate size, usually in the second year. Enjoy!
