| In New Jesrey, we are having an unsual bout of weather this summer. With a cold spell a few weeks ago, I noticed my crocuses were coming up (late August). Then, this past week (after Labor Day), my grape hyacinths started coming up as well. Should I do anything to discourage them from blooming? Will they still bloom next Spring? |
| Grape hyacinths often send up foliage in the fall, so that is normal. Crocus do not normally sprout up through the ground in the fall (except for the fall blooming crocus -- for them, it would be normal to bloom now), but you may see some growth on them as well. The growth should stop as soon as the soil cools and the weather cools and they should bloom next spring. |
