Hardy hibiscus (Hibiscus syriacus, Rose of Sharon) is very cold tolerant and should be planted in a sunny location.
If you have a tropical hibiscus (Hibiscus chinensis), these plants do not tolerate any frost at all and are often maintained as container plants so they can be brought indoors at the end of the season to be enjoyed as houseplants. Tropical hibiscus prefers full sunshine, too.

Feed plants every two weeks with a diluted liquid fertilizer (from spring through the end of summer), and pinch out the the tips of the new stems to encourage a long blooming season.

Good luck with your hibiscus!
