My wife and I have a 1/4-acre garden, and were wondering what type of winter wheat we can plant for weed suppression in the fall, and where we can purchase it. Thanks for your help! |
You'll probably want to purchase the seed of your green manure cover crop in bulk if you're planting 1/4 of an acre. Winter wheat has a tough and fibrous root system, perfect for breaking up clay soils. You might also consider fava, medic, hairy vetch or tyfon as fall-sown cover crops. All of the above are available from Territorial Seed Company, PO Box 157, Cottage Grove, OR 97424-0061. You can fax your order toll-free (888) 657-3131. |
