My wife and I have a 1/4-acre garden, and were wondering what type of winter wheat we can plant for weed suppression in the fall, and where we can purchase it. Thanks for your help!

You'll probably want to purchase the seed of your green manure cover crop in bulk if you're planting 1/4 of an acre. Winter wheat has a tough and fibrous root system, perfect for breaking up clay soils. You might also consider fava, medic, hairy vetch or tyfon as fall-sown cover crops. All of the above are available from Territorial Seed Company, PO Box 157, Cottage Grove, OR 97424-0061. You can fax your order toll-free (888) 657-3131.
