The Q&A Archives: Asparagus

Question: When is the best time to plant asparagus plants? I would like to have some in the spring. I have been wanting to plant some for years and I finally made up my mind to do so this year.

Answer: The bare roots or crowns are traditionally planted in early spring, with harvest being delayed until at least the second year, but you can certainly prepare the soil this fall in preparation for planting them next season.
