I have a mystery plant - it is growing in full shade and the leaves are toothed like a blackberry, but there are no thorns. The flowers look a little like a columbine or tiny orchid, pink and white with a spur off the lower back. It has been blooming non-stop June - Sept., and now there are seedpods which burst when touched (the skin peels back and shoots out seeds). Any help identifying this would be appreciated. |
Your mystery plant is often called Touch-Me-Not, for obvious reasons! It's a member of the Balsam family and related to impatiens. The botanical name is Impatiens oliveri (sometimes sold as Impatiens sodenii). |
