Can purple fountain grass be propagated from the seed pods? I have tried unseccessfully to propagate. What is the procedure?

Purple fountain grass doesn't usually set viable seeds and is best propagated by division. Dig the clump and divide the roots into several sections, then replant your new fountain grass.
