When do I plant my seeds for my hollyhocks? And what type of soil do they like?

Hollyhocks will thrive in ordinary garden soil that has been amended with compost. Sow in spring when soil temperatures are about 55 degrees. They germinate readily and once established will probably self-sow each year. Some will bloom the first year, but others won't bloom until the second year. Good luck!
