The Q&A Archives: Feeding Newly Planted Evergreens

Question: I have just planted some yew trees (sept 25) and would like to know if I should use Miracid on them at this late in the year.

Answer: I'd recommend waiting to fertilize until next spring when new growth starts. Plants are going dormant now and won't be able to utilize fertilizer that's applied. You also don't want to promote tender new growth, which will be suspectible to frost damage.
