The Q&A Archives: Which Type Of Lavender?

Question: Which type of lavender is closest to the French variety, Lady or English? Also please let me know which one will do well in my zone. Thanks.

Answer: Unfortunately, there are many types of lavender. Typical English varieties such as Munstead and Hidcote should do well in your zone and are very fragrant. They do require excellent drainage and a soil that is neutral to slightly alkaline as well as a location in full sun.
