Which type of lavender is closest to the French variety, Lady or English? Also please let me know which one will do well in my zone. Thanks.

Unfortunately, there are many types of lavender. Typical English varieties such as Munstead and Hidcote should do well in your zone and are very fragrant. They do require excellent drainage and a soil that is neutral to slightly alkaline as well as a location in full sun.
