I am moving and would like to take some of my herbs to my new home. Can I propagate spearmint and chocolate mint from root cuttings? And what about anise?

Mints grow readily from roots, or pieces of stem that have begun to sprout roots. This is why mints are often invasive -- they spread very easily. Dig up small sections of your mints and pot them up. Anise has a taproot, and doesn't transplant easily. You'd probably be more successful saving seeds from your anise to sow in your new garden.
