| The process if quite complex, but basically seeds form after the flower is pollinated. Pollination occurs when pollen is transfered from the anther to the stigma. Once this happens the petals begin to fade and fall and the plant's ovary begins to swell. The fertilized egg cells within the ovary develop seed coats to protect themselves. A protective coat called a pericarp is formed around all of the seeds. Together, the pericarp and the seeds comprise a fruit. I hope this info helps!
