Answer: A southern favorite, purple hyacinth bean can be difficult to grow and bloom in northern areas. It needs full sun and a long growing season to come into bloom. The flowers are a purply pink and the beans themselves are purple but they don't begin to produce until fall in some areas!
Starting them indoors in spring and planting them in a raised bed in a sheltered, warm and sunny spot can help.
