The Q&A Archives: Dividing Dahlias

Question: I have dug up all my dahlia bulbs. I have huge clumps of bulbs together. Should I divide them now or put the whole clump in peat moss and divide in the spring.

Answer: I'd divide in the spring as it will mean less open tissue for potential disease or rotting problems. Keep the tubers separate so they don't touch each other in a cool (35-45 degrees F), dry, frost-free place.
