| The flower buds usually do not begin to swell noticeably until spring, so as long as there are healthy branch tips you probably don't need to worry. Since they are newly planted, make sure they are well watered so the soil is kept evenly moist but not sopping wet and that there are several inches of organic mulch over the root zone year round. If they are an evergreen variety, you might also consider using an antidessicant spray this winter. These steps should help them come through winter with flying colors. |
