I have planted a strawberry jar this spring and I am not sure what to do or where to put it for the winter. We get some extremely cold temperatures (though they are still mild for the middle of November). What should I do with it? I do have a cool/dark wine cellar in the basement where I over winter my geraniums.

The pottery in most terra cotta strawberry jars is ruined by freezing temperatures, so the container must be protected. Unfortunately, the plants in the jar (depending on what you have planted in it) will probably object to the basement treatment. It may be better to plan on replacing the plants.
