There are many varieties of ornamental grasses commonly called fountian grass. Some are hardy while others are not. The grasses as a group are cut to the ground in late fall or very early spring and then grow throughout the season to reach their full height. In the fall, they send up taller stems with blooms or seed heads on them. They range from very small to very large, depending on variety. For this reason it is misleading to quote a specific height for them.
