A tiny seed contains all of a plant?s genetic material. Seeds are alive, waiting in a dormant state to start the growth process. Dormancy protects each seed so it won?t germinate until all conditions are just right: temperature, moisture, light, and even oxygen supply must be appropriate because once the seed breaks dormancy, it must continue to grow or die. I hope this helps!
