A friend has asked me to put together 3 window boxes for her parents April 2001 anniversary. She would like to see the boxes full of flowers upon delivery in April, then different flowers appearing all summer long.

She lives in zone 6, Weymouth, Massachusetts

The boxes are approx. 9" wide X 3' long X 9" deep.

I thought bulbs would be a good idea mixed with annual plantings.

I know I will have to plant the bulbs now to get spring blooms.

I will return to her parents boxes in the summer to add annual plantings.

Can you suggest what bulbs will bloom in April for zone 6?

I need a full list of everhthing I should purchase. Soil, moss or bark mulch, sub irrigation, bulbs, annuals, anything else you think of. With prices please.

owners' color preferences, but the growing conditions should be a top the of your list when making the selection.

Basic supplies would include a good quality basic potting soil, possibly a water holding polymer, some fertilizer (possibly a long release formulation for flowering annuals) according to label instructions, a watering can or hose or possibly an automated system including a timer and manual override, and an organic mulch such as shredded bark.

You might wish to check directly with suppliers as to pricing. Good luck with your project. owners' color preferences, but the growing conditions should be a top the of your list when making the selection.
