Planted 1 gallon Christmas ferns in a brick planter about 8 months ago. Nothing has happened. They are the same size, and color. We fed them fish emulsion and water regularly. They are in shade with a bit of afternoon sun...about an hour at about 4 PM. Our goal is to have large graceful ferns as part of the entry to our home. Any suggestions. |
Christmas ferns are evergreen, and tend to make the bulk of their growth in early spring when the new fronds unfurl. They are a clumping plant rather than a running or spreading plant, so each clump will thicken slightly from year to year. They are also naturally rather short. I suspect what you have seen is normal for that plant. |
