How far do wisteria roots spread from the base of the vine, and how deep?
I want to train wisteria up the side of my house, but do not want its invasive roots to disrupt the drainage systems at the base of the footings.

Wisteria are deep and tenacious rooted plants. Since the vine is potentially a very long one, perhaps you can plant it at a safer distance and then train the vine toward the house. You might also consider using an underground barrier to direct the roots away from the system.
