I have a 2' x 30' planter that my swimming pool backs up to. I'm looking for slow growing, low maintenance, colorful evergreen trees that won't get too big and roots that won't damage my pool.

Along with concern about invasive roots, trees and shrubs planted near pools should be as litter-free as possible, to keep from making a mess in and around the pool. Some suggestions include Acacia stenophylla (shoestring acacia), Ensete (banana), tree ferns, palms and Schefflera.
